Lisa's French Adventures

You know, history class, grade 10 world war one, no mans land. Well no mans land, is where I live. No mans land is that big empty space, well not so empty, between the german and the french between their trenches. Where the onlt thing you'll find is dead bodies and barb wire. Now minus the bodies and the barb wire thats where I am. Its only 11:45 pm and this place is DEAD. No light no noise no NOTHING.

After dinner I went onto the computer and wow ... neardy me only got up to go to the washroom about 10 minutes ago, and theres nothing. I was even afraid to flush the toilet thinking it would make too much noise. Oh and dont make fun, I just discovered the 2 different buttons to press :D They should label them. Numero 1 and Numero 2. I think thats a little more practical instead of just putting little dots, gosh. Yea yea i get it, for the "visualy impared alright. Dont be all smarty pants with me now sivan. I CAN READ YOUR MIND FROM FRANCE. Dont even try me. Uhm so yea. Now I wait for tammy to come back :) Se went to do laundry, lucky me I dont have to.

Meryls mother folds my underwear, and my socks. She told me that the kept a pair of my underwear today because there was a thread that was getting loose and made a whole. She told me she held onto them so that she can fix them. Woweee, a french woman is dealing with my underwear ... i dunnnooooo. Anyways she did it pretty damn good job with my sock the other day. I aint stopping her! Meryl even told me that her mother enjoys it, why take away what brings her such joy anyways? Stop laughing at me Sivan, no I'm not a bitch Sivan.

Well I guess I'll go to sleep, maybe even me typing over here is waking them up BAHAHA.

ps - lyon - lion get it? Their local soccer team is called lionness. Cool eh?
SO every year i think it was, white lions (fake obviously) are available to be painted and decorated and what not. Then theres an auction and lions are bought and sold and some are bought by the city and placed around the city (such as the gold one and the colourful one with the wings and the fish in the mouth) The colourful one with the wings and what not was actually in the Lyon tourism office, which I think is an interesting choice.

Alright, so where do I start, uhm. So meryl was occupied today with things at school and t was such a beautiful day SO meryls brother and i took the opportunity to go into town. Woke up at ... 10 SHARP then went back to sleep. Woke up at 11 SHARP, then thought that was really creepy and got up. Then i sat in my bed and was looking around, thought I might clean up a little. No I don't have a fever, gosh. Then found my hairstraightener which sadly broke, I blamed it on the voltage. I decided I would give it a second shot, it has been 2 weeks, maybe god agrees that I have suffered enough. Plugged it in, BAM! IT WORKS! hallelujah! It's a miracle. Now the funny thing is, the highest level is at "20". Just 20, no questions. Then I had it sitting at "1" and it was just as hot. I'm like dayum gurl, you kinda sexy when you take ma advice ;) Then, yup you guessed it, I then straightened my hair. And heres the ironic part, gotta shower tomorrow too LOL alright back to the POINT of this blog.

ALRIGHTY

On facebook i have posted many many pictures of my travels today. But did you know...

1. that they have, this haagen daz typa coffee shop. You go, take a seat, and order this ice cream [translation: la glace - the french are too lazy to say c r e m e g l a c e e] Ask me how wonderful that ice cream was, oh it was wonderful. I had one scoop of vanilla and pecan and another scoop of Strawberry shortcake. MMMmmmm was it ever delicious! (stop drooling) Alright!
2. Next fun fact. Uhm, for those of you who did look through the album (which is being loaded as we speak/as I type) theres one with the back of bicycles and a silver volts wagen i think ... anyways. Those bicycles [translation: velo] are rentable bicycles. Swip your ... credit car i believe ... first hour is free and the ones after that you get charged. Once you finished with the bicycle return to any local location. Because these things are everywhere. So I thought that was kinda cool. Obviously everyone just takes the bike I MEAN velo for an hour and returns it after that but what the heck! Hokay!
3. Next fun fact, Hmmm OH. So theres this place called Brioche something and i saw it twice today. Now I know twice just isnt enough to make ths comparison but it think it just might be there time hortons? The good quality stuff, not the crappy starbucks. Oh!
4. I saw a star bucks today too AND...
5. SUBWAY! The french like their subway (theres a picture for that too) AND...
6. They're shawarma! It's mostly in the little backroads though, well they look like backroads to me at least.

Ugh, there were so many things I knew had to write and I KNEW I would forget them. Clearly, I did. Well I'll remember them, and then I'll write them down on a new blog. I'll title it I REMEMBER NOW! - typical eh?

Thats right. Second day and she already tried convincing me out of her class.

So some background info:

1. Her names Mme Hurts/Herts (dunno) either way it HURTS looking at her giraffe printed pants. Now you may think kinda like leopard print, oh no. Full giraffes, on her pants. Thats right, those pants you wore when you were .... 5? (Pretty sure had I something of the sort)
2. She spent half her life in South Africa but really, shes French. So she has this South African accent and all her students pick that up from her.
3. Shes got an annoying voice
4. Completely oblivious to her surroundings

Alright so the story is

Mme. English teacher is teaching how to use some phrases/words such as "besides"

Now we get to a question, Meryl just by chance it was her turn to her answer so does. The whole exercise was to put in the word "besides" probably into the sentence and Meryl answers correctly. The answer was something like: Besides having ... But Mme "Your pants burn my eyes" says the answer is Besides TO having ...
WTF? Now I know my grammar is probably crap and i would LAUGH MY ASS OFF if you (sivan) reads this and tells me that she was correct too but i really couldn't care less. Now you could just imagine the scene Meryl and I made xD There was even an example, with THE EXACT same situation and what not but nooooooo.

Funny Fact: she said the word commer. I'm thinking whats commer? Meryl heard the same thing to, so I wasn't completely crazy. Is that a word that I've never learnt/heard of/used? Oh no, not even close. Commer is COMMA LOOOOOOOL

Yea I'm a bitch, so what? Gotta problem bahaha you love me :)

SO point of the story is, at the end of class while people are packing up she comes to me (ps. Meryl is sitting beside me)

• Mme. "I can't stand Lisa" says: Don't you think you should be doing exams, you will be here for such a long time. Six months you'll miss out on a lot of you don't o exams. You should take more French classes as well, it will do you good.
• Lisa says: What exams? I'm only here for 3 months, and there was another girl from Australia that stayed for 6 months and she stayed in YOUR English class. I don't see the problem.
• Mme says: No no, we had a girl named ________ who came for 3 months.
• Rest of Class says: NO. She came for 6 months.
• Mme: Oh well then, maybe some french exams will do you some good. This English class isn't any good for you
• Lisa: Well of the nine courses i have a day in French, I suppose an hour a day in English is alright. On the contrary (yes i said on the contrary) I think it might just keep me a little sane these next 3 months. Whats that, another 76 days?

HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Common, like you guys didn't see that one coming right?

Just to let you all know I wrote this on paper in class on Monday February 23 2009.

So i've gone trough 2 hours of physics and 2 hours of biology and now, math. Ask me if i understand what this reacher is mumbling about. maybe every other word. see something familiar on the board x=-3x(2x+1)squared+1 fun eh? yea, now ask me if i know what they're doing with it, nope, DUNNO!


I sat n the car for 30 minutes to get to school. Woke up, got dressed then sat on my ass for 30 minutes. so then as i said physics and bio then lunch and now math and then ... GERMAN! Mommy would be proud, right Sivan? HA! not EEEEEEven



ps. for some reason i feel like doing math. wtf?

anyways lunch was interesting. You know those typical american high schools, or at least the stereotype you see one t.v where you walk into the caf you take a tray, walk down and the lunch lady plops on this ... green gew, or is your lucky you get some brown gew. Yea, that. I got me a "badge" (franglais word) which ironically is NOT a badge. Its just a card with some magnetic thingy inside (thats where you come in aba) and you swipe it when you come into the caf, take a tray, fork knife and cup and then just walk down slowly. Today (February 26th 2009) i had this pasta dish which was surprisingly good. Had fish and bits of veggies. Had some banana yogurt, uhm BAGETTE uhm ... yup thats about it.

pps. Sivan the "i" button, is super hard to press WHY WOULD YOU GIVE ME A DEFECTED COMPUTER, HOW SELFISH OF YOU
